✔ More than 27,000 calls received by Line 100 for cases of gender violence from the beginning of the quarantine to May 10, according to data from the MIMP
Lima, May 18, 2020.- Today the entire world is going through a time of profound changes, as a result of the advance of the pandemic and the health, economic and social crisis that COVID-19 brings with it. However, despite being confined to our homes, violence in every sense does not stop; on the contrary, it has been increasing alarmingly.
One of the unfortunate consequences of the confinement of families is the increase in events of domestic violence, whether physical, psychological or sexual, a matter of great concern since the victims, mostly girls, boys and women, coexist with the aggressor. If we look at the figures, according MIMP in just 17 days of quarantine, a total of 113 girls and boys transferred to a shelter were registered as they had suffered an assault.
Thus, Baltazar and Nicolás Foundation, early childhood development experts, Bernard Van Leer Foundation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations, together with Latina Television andPanamericana Television, both open signal media and that today have an enormous growth in their audiences, we unite to promote a message about good treatment and seeking support, in the face of violence in any of its forms.
This campaign is part of our social impact alliances and has the name: "Families with respect and love", a message that we hope can reach millions of families nationwide. The initiative is a joint work that seeks to maintain well-being, as well as promoting equal opportunities, reducing inequalities, thus aligning itself with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3, 5, 10 and 17.
The campaign will feature TV spots and live mentions, as well as content notes with specialists, web notes and posts on the social networks of Latina.pe and My First Three from the Baltazar and Nicolás Foundation, all promoting the same message of the campaign: "Families with respect and love".
We invite everyone to be part of this initiative and join us every week through our different platforms with the #FamiliasConRespetoYAmor
Together we can achieve a country free of violence.
